Volunteer Code of Practice

Contract

Volunteering is a professional commitment. It is an agreement negotiated by Family Life with each volunteer and is dependant on the area of volunteering. This usually consists of a minimum of 2-4 hours per week.

Confidentiality

All volunteers are asked to sign a declaration of confidentiality which is a commitment by all persons working at Family Life to preserve the confidentiality of clients. No release of any client or volunteer information may take place without the written permission of the client.

Comfort

The personal comfort of the volunteer is essential to working effectively. Therefore it is important to look after your comfort by being clear about your rights and responsibilities as a volunteer.

Commitment

Volunteers at Family Life are committed to working in partnership with staff and clients, the agency and the broader community. This commitment is achieved through respectful relationships between everyone.

Creativity

It is the individual creativity that we all bring to Family Life which nourishes our work. Volunteers are invited to recognise their own creative skills that they bring to their work.

Code of Ethics

All volunteers, as well as staff, are asked to sign the agency Code of Ethics.
